Ninoshka Fernandes and team wins first place at New York Business Plan Competition

Humans for Education, comprised of University of Rochester biomedical engineering PhD candidate Ninoshka Fernandes, School of Medicine doctoral candidate Daphne Pariser, and Chadia Bedetse ’19, won first place and $10,000 in the social entrepreneurship/nonprofit track of the statewide intercollegiate New York Business Plan Competition. More than 100 teams competed in six tracks in the finals event hosted at SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Albany NanoTech Complex. 
 
Humans for Education creates sustainable, culturally sensitive small businesses to generate income for schools in developing countries. Their future goal is to create a small business for their newest school, Glory Primary School, in addition to ensuring they have clean water, hand sanitation, and scholarships.
