An optics PHD candidate, Ashley volunteered her personal time to visit Irondequoit High School and speak (twice) about her experiences as an optics student. In addition, Ashley performed thoughtful optics demonstrations that generated a great deal of energy and enthusiasm amongst the students.
Benefit to the Hajim School
As we are trying to raise the profile of the Institute of Optics and increase enrollment, direct engagement with high school students is vital. Ashley's enthusiasm, dedication, and demeanor resulted in over 40 AP physics students having a greater awareness and appreciation of the field of optics.
