Accomplishment: Dan facilitated a session at the annual staff retreat. During this session, Dan shared the Hajim dash board with the staff, specifically the portion on undergraduate enrollment targets and retention.
Benefit to the Hajim School: Dan's willingness to share the Hajim/dept goals with the staff results in the staff having a better understanding of how they each can assist with meeting these goals. The increase of knowledge regarding the department's goals increases each individual's ownership of work processes.

Accomplishment: Dan is such a breath of fresh air for the Hajim School! As the "new" undergraduate coordinator for the Institute of Optics, Dan jumped in with a can-do attitude to try understand student needs and then do whatever was in his power to effect change.
In particular, Dan was instrumental in organizing weekly pizza breaks during the Fall 2013 semester in an attempt to bring together optics faculty and undergraduates. He went out of his way to also reach out to the advisers in the HSEAS Deans Office to invite them to the sessions.
Benefit to the Hajim School: Undergraduates are able to see the all of us work together as a team for their benefit. Every single time I went to a pizza break, I had informative conversations with students about their courses, their future plans, and their study abroad experiences. Occasionally, I would drag with me a reluctant student to help them make connections with their peers.
