Accomplishment: Dan worked diligently toward meeting the department's study abroad goal of 9 students studying abroad. He worked with ITMO, in Russia, to create a 2 week study abroad research/cultural program. Dan successfully executed all the logistics of program creation and foreign travel for a group of students. The program will occur in June 2015.
Benefit to the Hajim School: Meeting the department's study abroad goal is beneficial to the optics students. The students will gain real research experience in addition to cultural exposure. An enriched undergraduate experience is the benefit.

Accomplishment: Dan Smith, who went way beyond the call of duty by assembling a binder of notes from the minutes of Undergraduate Committee meetings in the past several years. He put post-it notes and highlighter accents to show where our committee had discussed curriculum and assessment. Dr. Bunch (ABET visitor) said many times that this was a very helpful document. I have talked to Prof. Andrew Berger and other staff, they all support the nomination for Dan Smith.
Benefit to the Hajim School: ABET is a crucial step for our Optical Engineering Program within Hajim school.
