Jennifer Condit
Jennifer Condit receives the Edmund Hajim Outstanding Staff Award from Dean Wendi Heinzelman.
The 2019 Edmund Hajim Outstanding Staff Award goes to Jennifer Condit, the undergraduate coordinator in chemical engineering, “who has shown outstanding dedication to the success of the undergraduate students, and has been a departmental leader, providing exceptional support to the faculty and staff,” says Wendi Heinzelman, dean of the Hajim School.
“Jen plays a critically important role in our department,” adds Mitchell Anthamatten, professor and chair of chemical engineering.
Condit, who joined the department in 2010, advises 240 undergraduate students, organizes the Eisenberg symposium, AICHE student chapter events, the annual faculty retreat, and other department events.
“With her English degree and her experience in marketing and media, she has been instrumental to so many of our activities, serving as a liaison between students, personnel and parents, assembling our annual newsletter, designing and maintaining our department web content, and organizing events,” Anthamatten says.
“She even helps with filing applications to federal agencies, even though that’s not part of her job description.”
Condit, who received the Dottie Welch award in 2015, brings a student-centered philosophy to her interactions with students who have questions about the curriculum and their schedules. “Her door is always open, and she offers students understanding, empathy, and honesty -- and always with a positive tone,” Anthamatten says. “She handles situations with uncompromised tact and professionalism.”
“What impresses me most about Jen is her absolute professionalism. She executes every aspect of her job with thoroughness, care, and understanding.”
