Optical Interferometry, Opto-Mechanical System Design, Precision Engineering, Metrology, Mechanical System Analysis
Steven was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1989. He grew up in the southwest before moving to upstate New York in 2007 to study mechanical engineering at the University of Rochester while playing NCAA soccer for four years. After graduating with a B.S. in 2011 and completing an optomechanical engineering internship in Philadelphia, he decided to pursue a M.S. and eventually a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with concentrations in precision engineering and optomechanics.
His ongoing Ph.D. research is focused on activities to design and implement novel technologies for the next generation of precision instrumentation. Typical research tasks include signal processing, FPGA development, optical metrology, holography, opto-mechanical design and analysis, vibration analysis, and control system development.
