Weekly Memo

Dear members of the Hajim School community:

For those of you returning from spring break, welcome back! I hope everyone was able to get in some rest and relaxation and enjoy the early spring weather! This marks the beginning of the second half of the semester, which for our graduating seniors, may be your final one on campus. With that said, there are some important dates coming up. May 2, 2012 is the last day for any student to be reclassified into the class of 2012. Anyone reclassifying after this date will be held over until August for degree completion. It is also the last day for seniors to add a major or minor before commencement.

Seniors in the ABET-Accredited engineering programs (BME, CHE, ECE, and ME) are invited to join the Meliora link of the Order of the Engineer. Induction will occur on Saturday, May 19 at 10:00 A.M. in Wilson Commons. There is a $10.00 fee, which covers the cost of a steel ring and certificate of membership. The deadline to sign up is March 30, 2012. You must attend the ceremony in order to be inducted please see Donna Johnson in Lattimore 301 if you would like to be inducted or if you have any further questions.

Undergraduates, it's almost time to register for fall classes! Hajim School departments are hosting pre-registration advising sessions over the next three weeks. Please check with your department's Undergraduate Coordinator ASAP to find out when your department's sessions are scheduled.

This Friday, March 23 there will be an e-social from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in Goergen Hall featuring live music from Associate Dean Wayne Knox. Undergraduates will be treated to sushi, pizza, and wings near Pura Vida and general refreshments will be available throughout.

I would like to congratulate Genevieve McSpaden and Ian Marozas on being named recipients of RES scholarships for their outstanding performance in engineering studies. The scholarships are awarded annually at a minimum of $1,000 and are merit based. Good work Genevieve and Ian!
