Biography
LCDR Robert T. Augustine is a native of Buffalo, New York and enlisted in the United States Navy in October 2004. After graduation from Recruit Training Command as an undesignated airman, he reported to the aircraft carrier USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) and while onboard, was accepted to the 2007 class of the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS).
Upon completing the requirements of NAPS, Midshipman Augustine reported to the United States Naval Academy in the summer of 2007 and graduated four years later in the class of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering. While at the Naval Academy, he service selected Surface Warfare Officer with an Engineering Duty Officer Option.
Shortly after graduation, ENS Augustine reported to the Pre-Commissioning Unit MICHAEL MURPHY (DDG 112). As a plank owner, he served as First Lieutenant, Force Protection Officer and an assistant Department Head. While assigned to DDG 112, he stood up Deck division, participated in both DDG 111 and 112’s sail around and commissioning activities, DDG 112’s training cycle and RIMPAC 2014 along with various other exercises and earned various qualifications culminating in his Surface Warfare qualification.
After Departing USS MICHAEL MURPHY, LTJG Augustine reported to the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California where he earned a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering and transitioned from the Surface Warfare community to the Engineering Duty Officer Community.
Upon graduation, LT Augustine was assigned to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division for his EDO qualification tour. While there, he supported the Missile Defense Agency’s Aegis Ashore program in Romania, Poland and the perspective program in Japan. After NSWC PHD, LT Augustine reported to Supervisor of Shipbuilding in Bath Maine as the Aegis Test Officer responsible for the installation and check out of new construction DDG 51 class destroyer’s combat and communication systems.
Currently LCDR Augustine is assigned to the Missile Defense Agency’s Sea-Based Weapon Systems SM-3 Guided Missile Program as the block 2A deputy product manager.
Away from work, he enjoys the company of his wife, Kinich, and their four (4) year old daughter Mia.
