Congratulations to Hexuan (April) Wang, MS, and Professor Marvin Doyley on the publication of their manuscript titled "Elastographic assessment of xenograft pancreatic tumors."  The article will appear in the December 2017 issue of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology and can be found here.  The article is co-authored by - and describes research performed with - collaborators at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College.

Congratulations to Dr. Vyacheslav Korshunov (Aab Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry), Rifat Ahmed, Hexuan (April) Wang, and Prof. Marvin Doyley on the publication of their manuscript titled "Model-based vascular elastography improves the detection of flow-induced carotid artery remodeling in mice."  The article appears in NatureScientific Reports and can be found here.  Rifat and April are graduate students/research assistants working towards their PhD degrees in Prof. Doyley's lab.

Congratulations to Prof. Marvin Doyley on the publication of the manuscript titled "Collagen complexity spatially defines microregions of total tissue pressure in pancreatic cancer."  The article appears in Nature: Scientific Reports and can be found here.  The work reported in this article was a collaborative effort with Prof. Brian Pogue and others at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, the Department of Surgery in the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Harvard Medical School.

Congratulations to Himanshu Shekhar, PhD, Jeffrey Rowan, MS, and Prof. Marvin Doyley on the publication of their manuscript titled "Combining subharmonic and ultraharmonic modes for intravascular ultrasound imaging: a preliminary evaluation."  The article will appear in the November 2017 issue of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology and can be found here.  Dr. Shekhar received his PhD at the University of Rochester under Prof. Doyley's supervision; he is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Health and Disease, at the University of Cincinnati.  Jeff Rowan is a graduate student/research assistant working towards his PhD in Prof. Doyley's lab.

Rowan Successfully Completes MS Exit Exam

Congratulations to Jeffrey Rowan who successfully completed his MS exit exam on April 19, 2017.  Jeff, advised by Professor Doyley, presented research work titled "Size isolation of microbubbles using microfluidics chips."  Professor Kevin Parker served on the exam committee.  Jeff's MS degree was conferred on May 20, 2017, and he continues in Prof. Doyley's lab as a PhD candidate.  Again, congratulations to Jeff and many thanks for his contributions to the Parametric Imaging Research Lab.

Congratulations to Marvin Doyley and his collaborators on the publication of their manuscript titled "Separation of solid stress from interstitial fluid pressure in pancreas cancer correlates with collagen area fraction."  The article appears in the Journal of Biomechanical Imaging: http://biomechanical.asmedigitalcollection.asme.org/article.aspx?articleid=2618331&resultClick=1.  Co-authors include Brian Pogue, Michael Nieskoski, Kayla Marra, Jason Gunn, Stephen Kanick, B. Stuart Trembly (Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth College), Tayyaba Hasan (Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School), and Stephen Pereira (Institute for Liver and Digestive Health, University College, London).  The study described in this paper demonstrates "a new approach to measure interstitial fluid pressure and solid stress...with a modified pressure transducer.  These data grant insight into the mechanisms of collagen interaction with pressure and vascular patency within pancreatic tumors.

Rohit Nayak successfully defends his PhD thesis

Congratulations to Rohit Nayak who successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Principal Strain Vascular Elastography for Imaging the Carotid Artery.”  Rohit's public defense took place on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, immediately followed by a closed-door defense session.  Rohit has been advised by Professor Marvin Doyley.  His PhD committee was chaired by Professor Stephen McAleavey (Biomedical Engineering); other committee members were Professor Kevin Parker (Electrical & Computer Engineering), Dr. Giovanni Schifitto (Neurology), and Professor Diane Dalecki (Biomedical Engineering).  Again, congratulations to Rohit and many thanks for his hard work and significant contributions to Professor Doyley’s Parametric Imaging Research Lab!

Prashant Verma successfully defends his Ph.D. thesis
