Wenhui Hou

Hometown: Xi'an, Shaanxi, China

Research Group:Laboratory for Nanophotonics

Degrees: B.S. in Applied Physics, University of Science and Technology of China, M.S. in Electrical Engineering, University of Rochester

Anticipated Degree: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering

Research Advisor: Professor Stephen M. Wu

Research Description: The focus of my research is on dynamic strain engineering of 2D materials using piezoelectric substrates to achieve electric-field controllable phase transitions in 2D materials and exploring the fascinating functionalities that can be achieved in this type of 2D straintronic devices.

Why you chose ECE/UR: I chose ECE because I want to bring my strong background in solid state physics into applications in electronic devices. I chose UR because there are professors doing research that I am interested in, and Rochester is a great place to live in!
