Anaglyph Images

Anaglyph images are used to provide a stereoscopic 3D effect. Two images obtained at angles differing by 3° to 6° are needed to produce the 3-dimensional effect. The left image is filtered to remove red and the right eye image is filtered to remove blue and green. Using Photoshop, we "screen" the two images together, allowing the filtered layers to be combined transparently on top of each other.

SEM micrographs show 3D structures through 2D images.
The anaglyph image will appear three-dimensional when viewed through red/cyan glasses.
