Professor Porosoff Selected as Scialog Fellow for Negative Emissions Science

Professor Marc Porosoff has been named a Fellow for the Scialog initiative, Negative Emission Science (NES). Scialog: NES is cosponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA), with additional support from the Climate Pathfinders Foundation, the ClimateWorks Foundation, and the Thistledown Foundation. The series will hold its third conference on November 9-12, 2022, in Tucson, AZ.

Scialog is short for “science + dialog.” Scialog: NES is a program for early-career researchers interested in pursuing collaborative and high-risk research aimed at removing, utilizing and sequestering greenhouse gases. Scialog meetings are attended by early-career Scialog Fellows and distinguished facilitators to identify bottlenecks, discover breakthroughs, and build new scientific teams to pursue these goals. During the conference, Scialog Fellows form teams and write 2-page proposals “on-the-spot” to compete for funding to execute the collaborative projects that emerge from the dialog.

Identifying and developing catalysts to convert carbon dioxide into value-added products motivates my group’s research. I have been studying catalysts for carbon dioxide conversion since my PhD and am looking forward to the Scialog: NES conference to discuss new and collaborative solutions with outstanding scientists who share my interests.”
