Brandon Wilson Wins Young Alumni Award
The Department of Chemical and Sustainability Engineering is pleased to announce that Brandon Wilson is the winner of the 2026 Young Alumni Award.

This award is given annually to recognize graduates within the last 15 years for their service to society, their professional and technical accomplishments, and their demonstrated leadership
Brandon is the co-founder of Range Biotechnologies, a company developing new analytical tools to improve human health. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Rochester in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, complemented by minors in biomedical engineering, chemistry, applied math, materials science, and economics. At Rochester, Brandon conducted biomaterials research with Professor Danielle Benoit, co-authoring a publication on the synthesis of hydrogels for drug delivery.
Brandon earned a PhD in chemical engineering from Stanford University in 2020, where he worked with Professor H. Tom Soh to develop new technologies for quantitative molecular assays. Brandon remained at Stanford for his postdoctoral training, where he expanded his research into single-molecule protein sequencing while also pursuing coursework in business and technology commercialization. His scientific work has appeared in journals including Nature Communications, Nature Biomedical Engineering, and Analytical Chemistry, and he is a named inventor on more than a dozen patent applications.
In 2022, Brandon co-founded Range Biotechnologies with the mission is to predict and prevent chronic disease by characterizing how biomarkers change in response to internal and external perturbations. Under his leadership, Range Bio has secured $6.1 million in venture funding to translate its technology into practical tools that improve human health. Brandon credits the breadth of his education and research experiences at Rochester with preparing him for the multidisciplinary demands of scientific innovation and entrepreneurship.
Brandon will be accepting his award during Meliora Weekend at the Eisenberg Symposium on Friday, October 2, 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Wegmans Hall, first floor hallway (award will be given at 4 p.m.). Please join us as we say congratulations on his well-deserved award!
