Hollow
Ag-Pd nanoparticles were synthesized for fuel cell catalyst
applications. One major benefit to these
hollow nanoparticles
is that they are porous, which increases the surface area compared to
solid nanoparticles. Also, there is less
material needed to
synthesize them since they are hollow.
This is advantageous because one of the major
problems with fuel cell
catalysts is the cost. These particular
Ag-Pd nanoparticles could be used for ethanol oxidation reactions for
fuel cells. This project studies these
Ag-Pd
nanoparticles at different compositions of Ag and Pd.
