Tunable Bilayer Grating Coupler

Our project focuses on designing a Tunable Bilayer Grating Coupler (TBGC) that is capable of identifying the orientation of dipoles such as NV centers and single molecules. Current systems for identification require the sample to be transported to be analyzed before implementing them in optical systems. Our project looks to design a structure that is able to both identify orientation and couple the dipole while being integrated with the optical system. Through unit cell analysis we are able to create a system that identifies and couples two orientations of dipole by shifting the two layers of the TBGC transversely.
